Update: Big Brother Could Be Watching You After Wednesday

A temporary sigh of relief. That's what you will hear reverberating across much of the Swedish blogosphere now that a controversial vote in Swedish Parliament is postponed. Swedish lawmakers were scheduled to vote on the much debated wiretapping bill, FRA-lagen, tomorrow morning. The proposed measure would make it legal for the Swedish Defense Radio Establishment to monitor all web traffic, emails, text messages, faxes and phone calls crossing Swedish borders.

Swedish Parliament has postponed the vote and has sent it back to Parliament's defense committee to have the legislation re-examined.

The Swedish blogosphere campaigned heavily against the measure (and for the Stoppa FRA-lagen movement, www.stoppafralagen.nu), a viral campaign which some have called the Swedish Blog Quake.
