Jumbo Sleep

Ever thought about camping out in a grounded jumbo jet? That possibility will soon become a reality in Stockholm. An Uppsala entrepreneur is transforming an abandoned jumbo jet, parked at Arlanda Airport since 2002, the former property of the former airline Transjet, into a youth hostel.

The new budget accommodations could become an option for Arlanda travelers as early as December, just in time for the holidays. 500 seats will be ripped out and replaced with 80 beds. If you're in the mood for a splurge, you could reserve the suite, formerly the jet's cockpit. The plane rolled into its final resting place, a few kilometers from Arlanda Airport, late last week.

The man behind the jumbo jet/youth hostel idea, Oscar Diös, says his company is working on a plan to build a worldwide chain of similar accommodations called "Jumbo Hostels."
